'It's what he wants' - Manchester United fans react to latest update in Cristiano Ronaldo saga

Manchester United fans have been reacting to the news their club could look to terminate Cristiano Ronaldo's contract.

During an interview with TalkTV host Piers Morgan, Ronaldo criticised the club, the manager and the Glazers, and declared that he felt "disrespected" and "betrayed" by United. The MEN understands that the Reds will now will consider terminating Ronaldo's contract following the controversial interview.

On Friday, United released a statement on their website in response to the situation, which read: "Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview. We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion."

The club are currently looking at taking legal action against Ronaldo for a possible breach of contract, which could potentially result in his current deal being terminated.

United fans were quick to suggest that the club should get rid of the player if they do indeed have grounds to dismiss him. Here is what some supporters have said on Twitter.

Ronaldo is currently in Qatar preparing for his country's campaign in the World Cup. Portugal have been drawn in Group H and their first match, which could also feature United's Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes, takes place on Thursday, November 24 in Doha against Ghana.
