It's Las Vegas in Newcastle as Purple Peacock launches new showbiz nights

It's glamour all the way at a city bar which is launching three new show nights inviting customers to enjoy a party mood at 'catwalk' performances featuring song, dance and even acrobatics.

The Purple Peacock, on the 55 Degrees North roundabout in Newcastle, is hosting new shows which aim to capture the glitz of Vegas; the music vibe of movies ranging from Grease to Dirty Dancing and also throwback sounds of the nineties. The night spot, which hosts theatrical shows three nights a week including aerial acrobatics by Newcastle’s Toxic Cherry, says its resident singers and dancers have been rehearsing their latest performances for months.

And audiences will see the likes of Matt Pagan, of Britain’s Got Talent winning Collabro as the new high-energy sets get under way. Making its debut first will be Time of Our Lives this Friday, January 27 featuring Pagan in action - and in theatrical costume -alongside a cast of singers and dancers.

Described as the 'ultimate sing-along evening of non-stop nostalgia', it will pay homage to hits from the likes of Grease, Saturday Night Fever and Dirty Dancing - and follow-up performances will be every Friday of the month throughout the year.

Setting the mood the next night, January 28 - and then every Saturday after that - will be Viva Las Peacock bringing plenty sparkle and glitter to the long stage area - which runs like a catwalk between sitting areas of the bar - during renditions of classic tracks by such stars as Elvis Presley, Cher, Celine Dion, Elton John and Britney Spears.

The third show will be retro nineties performance We Like to Party which will run on the first Thursday night of every month, getting under way on February 2. This celebration of all things nineties promises fans everything from the Spice Girls to NSYNC, and Green Day.

Shows will start at 7.30pm and there are various ticket packages available, including drinks and a three-course meal option. The choice of seating area includes bar, booths and private dining areas.

Matthew Foster, marketing director for The One Collection Group which runs Purple Peacock, said the venue's "immensely talented resident singers and dancers" have been perfecting their latest routines for months. "The new show nights will be full of great performances packed with energy and glamour that will most certainly make it a night to remember," he said.

Other theme nights coming up at the venue will include a single ladies’ Valentine's special and Clubland evening. To book a table for one of the shows or for more information about what's on offer there - including themed bottomless ‘drunches’ on Saturdays which combine bottomless drinks with food platters and entertainment such as aerialsts and fire breathers - see here.
