Israeli forces on high alert after deadly Palestinian shooting attack

Israeli security forces were on high alert on Wednesday after a Palestinian gunman killed five people in a Tel Aviv suburb, the latest in a string of fatal attacks that has stoked fears of wider escalation ahead of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said Israel was facing a "new wave of terrorism" and called a security cabinet meeting, as police beefed up their presence in Israeli cities.
