Israel’s Minister of Defense briefed US Secretary of Defense about the recent deadly Hezbollah attack on an Israeli army base. The attack resulted in four soldiers dead and over 60 injured, with eight in serious condition.
The Minister emphasized the severity of the drone attack and stated that Israel would respond forcefully against Hezbollah. He also assured that measures were being taken to coordinate with UNIFIL to prevent harm to peacekeepers and civilians in the area.
Recent incidents involving UNIFIL have strained relations between Israel and its allies. The UN reported that Israeli forces had targeted peacekeepers, entered their base, disrupted logistics, and injured several troops in southern Lebanon.
In response to the escalating tensions, the US announced the deployment of its THAAD missile defense system to Israel. The Minister praised this decision as a demonstration of the US commitment to Israel's security and defense against aerial threats from Iran and its proxies.
