For more than two years, Israel's military insisted its forces were nowhere near the car in which five-year-old Hind Rajab bled to death in Gaza.

IDF on Wednesday admitted that its troops had fired on that vehicle after all, and opened a criminal investigation into a killing that became one of the war's most haunting symbols.
