Israel Launches Strikes On Hezbollah In Lebanon, Killing Commanders

A rocket launched from the Gaza Strip strikes an area near Sderot, southern Israel

Israel's military has confirmed that it conducted new strikes on Lebanon overnight, specifically targeting Hezbollah weapons storage facilities in the capital's southern suburbs and the southern region of the country. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that two Hezbollah commanders responsible for missile attacks on northern Israel were also eliminated in the strikes.

Hezbollah has not yet issued a statement regarding the attacks, and the full extent of the damage caused by the strikes remains unclear. The ongoing conflict has resulted in a significant toll on Lebanon, with over 1,500 people killed and 1.2 million displaced since Israel initiated its ground incursion and intensified airstrikes earlier this month, according to Lebanese authorities.

The Israeli military emphasized that it provided advance warning to civilians before carrying out the strikes on Dahiyeh in southern Beirut. The IDF issued evacuation orders for specific buildings in the Haret Hreik and Hadath areas of the Hezbollah stronghold, indicating that these sites would be targeted soon.

Furthermore, the IDF accused Hezbollah of strategically placing its weapons storage facilities and weaponry beneath residential buildings, schools, mosques, and universities in central Beirut. This tactic, according to the IDF, poses a significant risk to the civilian population in the area.
