Is Tino Livramento injured this weekend? Injury latest on Newcastle United full-back

Tino Livramento went off injured at the weekend.

An injury to Tino Livramento could add to Eddie Howe's woes at Newcastle United.

The 23-year-old full-back went off in the second half of Newcastle's 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

That is just the latest in a string of injuries to Livramento this season following two spells out of the side in in the first half of the season with a knee injury and two-month stint on the sidelines after the turn of the new year.

Depending who you listen to, Livramento's injury has been described as either a thigh or groin issue after his departure in the 74th minute on Saturday.

The Daily Mail wrote on Wednesday that the full extent of Livramento's injury would only be revealed after a second scan - but the prognosis is not looking great.

The best-case scenario would be for Livramento to be back available for selection for the 'final couple of games of the campaign', suggesting that he is set to miss at least three weeks for Newcastle.

Newcastle's remaining fixture list comprises a trip to Arsenal, a home game with Brighton, a visit to Nottingham Forest, hosting West Ham, and finally going to Fulham for the final day.

Kieran Trippier is the most likely replacement for Livramento in the Newcastle side.

Howe's side have little to play for except perhaps the manager's future at this point having dropped to 14th in the Premier League table, giving them only remote hopes of recovering in time to secure European qualification.

However, Livramento has plenty of reason to be desperate to get back to action as soon as possible.

England manager Thomas Tuchel has called up Livramento to his squad whenever he has been available for selection, bar last summer, when he was preferred for the Under-21s instead.

Livramento played a part in both of England's friendlies against Uruguay and Japan last month as Tuchel took a final look at his players before making his selection for this summer's World Cup.

The full-back, who has played on both sides of the defence for his country, will therefore want to get a chance to show he is back to full fitness to bolster his hopes of heading to his first major senior tournament for the Three Lions.
