Following the Indianapolis Colts’ Week 12 loss to the Detroit Lions, center Tanor Bortolini reported concussion symptoms and entered protocols very early on this past week.
Tanor Bortolini injury update
After head coach Shane Steichen announced on Monday that Bortolini was in concussion protocol, he did not practice at all during the week and won’t be able to return until he is cleared. Following Friday’s practice, Bortolini was ruled out of this week’s game against New England.
How long with Tanor Bortolini be out?
Every player goes through concussion protocol at a different pace. So as far as when Bortolini could return, we are in wait-and-see mode. The Colts do have their long awaited bye week following the New England game, giving Bortolini additional time to return to the lineup.
Indianapolis Colts OL depth chart
With Bortolini out, veteran Danny Pinter will get the start at center with Ryan Kelly still on injured reserve. Pinter would miss the 2023 season due to injury, so his last regular season snaps came in 2022. That year, Pinter played 292 snaps, most of which came at right guard, and included four starts.
To bolster their interior offensive line depth, the Colts also signed Atonio Mafi from the practice squad to the active roster and elevated Mark Glowinski as well.
