When we first reviewed the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid, currently down to $1,049 (from $1349) at Saatva, our lead tester called it 'close to perfect'. Does this hold true almost three years on? I'm one week into re-testing Saatva's luxury hotel-style hybrid and, so far, the feel and support are in the 'just right' territory for me.
Unlike the flagship Saatva Classic mattress, which we crowned the best mattress of 2026 for all sleepers, the Memory Foam Hybrid offers more pronounced contouring at a slightly lower price ($2,099 MSRP for a queen versus $2,179).
So what's changed since our original Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress review? Honestly, not much. The design is largely the same, and the mattress is still responsive and cooling. However when it comes to feel, I'm having an altogether softer experience. Here's my take on it so far...
Checking out Saatva's free White Glove Delivery
All Saatva mattresses arrive flat and come with free white glove delivery. I simply had to coordinate a time and date with one of Saatva's logistics partners.
This was a straightforward process via email. (I also had to clear a path for the delivery team so they didn't get stuck or break anything.)
Mattress and foundation removal is included free of charge too, but you have to notify the delivery team ahead of time. Again, this can all be done via email.
My Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid arrived on a Wednesday afternoon toward the start of my four-hour delivery window. The entire process — including removal of my previous mattress — took less than five minutes.
Since the mattress was already fully formed, I didn't have to wait for it to inflate or take shape. I could sleep on it immediately, if I wanted to. (However, it did need to be broken in, as I'll explain below.)
Likely due to the foam comfort layers, there was a faint off-gassing smell when I first lay on the mattress.
But compared to some of the vacuum-wrapped boxed mattress I've tried, it was negligible, and it dissipated in a couple of hours.
Firmer (and shorter) than I'm used to
For the better part of two years, I had been sleeping on a Cloverlane Hybrid, a now-discontinued mattress that was specifically created to compete against the Saatva Classic. While I still found it comfortable, it was starting to feel too soft in the middle — and yes, I made sure to rotate my mattress regularly.
The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid felt noticeably firmer than the Cloverlane — enough that I began to wonder if it would be too firm for my liking.
I'm a natural side sleeper who prefers a harder mattress for back support (and for my occasional stomach sleeping), but I also need cushioning to ease pressure on my joints, especially since I've picked up a mild knee injury recently.
I wasn't ready to write off the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid after one night. After all, it takes a few weeks to break in a mattress. Saatva even included an insert to remind customers that since their handcrafted mattresses arrive practically straight off the assembly line, they'll need time to soften.
I also had to get used to having a shorter bed. My Cloverlane Hybrid was just under 15 inches, but the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid is 11.5 inches (still a more than acceptable mattress height for an adult bed.)
This is a positive change; a shorter mattress suits my smaller space, and my feet are now flat on the floor when I sit on the edge. My senior cat also finds it easier to jump up.
The right kind of tension
My first night sleeping on the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid, I rated it an 8 out of 10 for firmness, but by the end of the first week, I'd bumped that down to a 6.5. That puts it within Saatva's own rating of 5–7 for this mattress.
It now feels closer to my previous mattress, the Cloverlane Hybrid, but the center of the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid maintains a firmer tension that helps keep my back in alignment.
I had been overheating at night, but so far, the Saatva is keeping me at a comfortable temperature for sleeping
It's now at the right balance of comfort and support for my needs. I've been quite comfortable on my side to the point where I haven't spent much time resting on my front.
Meanwhile, I had been dealing with episodes of overheating at night, but so far the Saatva is keeping me at a comfortable temperature for sleeping.
According to the brand, it's designed for "triple cooling," with pocket springs, an organic cotton cover, and a layer of waved foam to promote airflow. (That said, swapping to lightweight sheets has helped here, as well.)
I sit on the side of the bed when I wake up and, fortunately, the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid has steady edge support. (The shorter profile is a benefit, too.)
As for motion isolation, I sleep solo on a small bed, but I noticed this mattress has a lot of bounce. I'll have more details regarding its level of movement transfer after I perform my objective tests.
My thoughts on the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid so far
After a week, the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress is in 'just right' territory for me, but I wonder how much longer this 'break-in' stage will take.
There's a chance the comfort foams will continue to soften throughout the rest of the month, and I worry it could become too plush.
It does have Saatva's patented Lumbar Zone, which includes specialized quilting and a half-inch strip of gel memory foam across the middle of the mattress.
But without reinforced center coils, like those found in the Helix Midnight Luxe Hybrid Mattress, that support may only go so far after a while.
But it's already an improvement over my previous mattress in several ways, and I'm hoping that as the month progresses, the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid will maintain that balance of comfort and support I crave as a side sleeper with mounting aches and pains.
