Is Paddy Kirk leaving Emmerdale? Actor Dominic Brunt ‘hints’ at soap exit

Emmerdale’s Paddy Kirk has been a firm fixture on the popular ITV soap for 25 years but fans fear they could be about to say goodbye to the village vet.

Paddy is currently going through a heart-breaking storyline centred on men’s mental health. Since his wife Chas Dingle’s secret affair with Al Chapman was exposed, Paddy's mental wellbeing has suffered significantly.

As Emmerdale viewers know, Paddy recently fled the village and revealed that he was contemplating ending his own life, but thankfully he is now back home safely. In upcoming scenes that will air next month, Marlon wants to do something to help his friend recover.

The ITV soap will air a powerful episode exclusively featuring its male cast members for the first time ever. Viewers will see Marlon set up a late-night lock-in for male residents at the Woolpack so they can speak openly about mental health.

Discussing the challenging scenes, Paddy actor Dominic said: "It’s a huge honour and a great responsibility to be portraying this storyline. It’s an inherent problem in today’s society that most men don’t talk enough about their problems.

"We bottle them up, we don’t want to bother anyone, we become embarrassed, we feel we should be strong and not show weakness. If this story can shine a light on the issue or make even a small change to someone’s outlook or viewpoint, then it will have been worth it."

Fans now fear Dominic’s new Paddy storyline might be his official exit from the soap after 25 years. Dominic previously hinted at his exit in a cryptic message.

He said: “If I was to go tomorrow, I wouldn’t complain because I’ve had 25 amazing years. - but long may it continue. I absolutely love that job to pieces. I can’t explain to you what it means to me.”
