FROM features Lost star Harold Perrineau, alongside Moreno (American Gothic), Bailey (The Stand), David Alpay (Red Rooms) and Shaun Majumder (Addison). Its second season has already aired in the US on MGM+, but is yet to be released in the UK.
It has been created by John Griffin, who previously worked on 2019 Paramount+ series The Twilight Zone. Several of the producers that worked on Lost have also worked on FROM which has led to a huge amount of comparison between the two series.
The Guardian described its first series as “the spooky sci-fi drama that’s like a landlocked Lost”, while Empire said, “It’s hard to ignore the giant shadow that Lost casts across From, and not just because they’re both mystery-box-type shows.”
Jeff Pinkner (Lost, Citadel), Josh Appelbaum (Life on Mars Cowboy Bebop), André Nemec (Life on Mars, Citadel) and Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: The Next Level) are the series’ executive producers. American musician Chris Tilton, who has co-composed and composed music for several major computer games including SimCity and Assassin’s Creed Unity, has created the score.
The 59-year-old Perrineau starred in seasons one, two and four of Lost and returned for a smaller role in the sixth . Since then he’s had roles in several major films and TV shows including in Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty (2012), Sons of Anarchy (2012) and Criminal Minds (2017). He was however arguably best known for his role as Michael Dawson in Lost – that is until his most recent role in FROM where he plays Boyd Stevens, a resident of the town who steps up to try and battle the monsters.
Speaking to Screen Rant about the series in April, Perrineau said: “Season one was really scary, and it set things up. It set up the world and the characters, and season two, it just turns up the dial, and it goes at a speed that you can’t even understand. The second you think you have the answer to one thing, a new question comes up, and it leads to four more questions, so you try to answer one, but then eight more come up.”
