Fortnite down for update 23.30 – here's when servers will be back online

Fortnite servers are experiencing downtime right now, with update 23.30 going live this morning.

UPDATED 11:27am GMT: The full update 23.30 patch notes are now live, with new Dragon Ball content, reality augments and more.

UPDATED 9:43am GMT: Fortnite update 23.30 is now rolling out on all platforms, with matchmaking disabled and servers currently offline.

UPDATED 8.53am GMT, Tuesday, January 31: Epic Games confirms via the @FortniteStatus Twitter account that the 23.30 Fortnite update will be rolling out on all platforms this morning as expected. Matchmaking is beginning to be disabled as we speak, so the update and subsequent downtime will begin soon!

Fortnite update 23.30 is expected to go live today at 9am GMT / 4am ET / 1am PT across for all platforms. Matchmaking and servers will begin to go offline around 30 minutes beforehand, so realistically. players will start getting kicked out of the online portions of the game from 8.30am GMT / 3.30am ET / 12.30am PT.

Downtime normally lasts for up to four hours, so Fortnite servers will likely be back online at 1pm GMT / 8am ET / 5am PT. As usual, the game should apply the update automatically when it's back up and running, so you'll be able to jump back into Fortnite The Kid Laroi's Wild Dreams event in no time! If update 23.30 doesn't apply for any reason, you can manually search for it on your to get playing as soon as possible.

The last major patch for the title came a couple of weeks ago with Fortnite update 23.20 on January 18, which introduced the new Falcon Scout drone, five new Reality Augments, and a number of bug fixes.

Fortnite update 23.30: expected patch notes

In terms of in-game content, a Dragon Ball collaboration has been confirmed for Fortnite update 23.30 by Epic Games in a tweet but the image doesn't give away any more details than the announcement itself.

There aren't any confirmed patch notes right now, so we'll have to wait until Fortnite update 23.30 rolls out for any details. But there are some changes and bug fixes we can tentatively predict. According to the official Fortnite Trello board, there are a number of issues that currently have a 'Fixed in Future Game Update' label, so it's relatively safe to assume that these fixes could be included in Fortnite update 23.30 :

  • Players are unable to claim the Excile variation of the Mind's Eye back bling
  • Battle Hound and Molten Battle Hound Helmet visually incorrect
  • Physics on Joni the Red's coat are no longer functioning
  • Bonus Rewards 'Pre-requisite Not Met' issue
  • The 'Party Time' Augment has been temporarily disabled
  • Unable to emote after a Victory Royale
  • Fall damage when sliding with the Shockwave Hammer
  • Terrain issues in Autumn Foothills biome (Save the World)

  • Wildlife takes fall damage with fall damage set to off (Fortnite Creative)
  • Placing a prop and switching to the pickaxe at the same time places an invisible prop (Fortnite Creative)
  • Players can build in Mutator Zone Devices with "Allow Building" set to "No" in certain instances (Fortnite Creative)

  • Props may turn green while selecting after placing them under terrain (Fortnite Creative)

  • Tiles can become invisible in color switch game mode (Fortnite Creative)

  • Battlepass Button confirm sound sometimes plays on any initial button press with touch (Mobile and Cloud)

  • The Falcon Scout continues going up or down without pressing anything (Mobile and Cloud)

But, one thing we know that definitely won't be included in update 23.30 is the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). Originally intended to drop in January, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney confirmed that UEFN is targeting a March release date instead.
