Bryce Young won’t have his top target from last year at his disposal this afternoon.
On Saturday, the Carolina Panthers officially downgraded wideout Adam Thielen to out for their Week 9 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. The 34-year-old receiver, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury he sustained in Week 3, did not participate in practice on Friday and was later listed as doubtful.
Head coach Dave Canales hinted at Thielen’s status following that final practice session.
“The guys stacked really solid weeks,” Canales told reporters. “We’re gathering all that information. And we’ll go through this weekend probably without those guys—we’re talkin’ about Brooks, we’re talkin’ about [D.J.] Wonnum, we’re talkin’ about [Adam] Thielen.
“So guys that are certainly trending towards where we know where they can help us. But wanna be completely sure for the guys and for the team.”
Brooks and Wonnum were also downgraded to out on Saturday.
