Irish customers of Electric Ireland and Bord Gáis Energy need to ensure they have submitted a meter reading before the beginning of October.
By doing this, customers will avoid the worst of impending price hikes by only paying for what their household actually uses.
Electric Ireland announced on September 1 their plans to increase residential electricity bills by 26.7% and gas bills by 37.5% with effect from October 1, 2022.
