Irish foodie shares high protein air-fryer 'fakeaway' with half the calories of a Dominos pizza

An Irish foodie has shared a “fakeaway” dish that is driving people wild - and it has around a quarter of the calories the original has.

Sorcha Hickey, from Killarney, runs the Instagram page ‘Blasta Bites’, where she shares pictures of food and recipes.

Her latest air fryer dish has gone down a treat with followers, with Sorcha herself saying: “This is probably the best fakeaway I’ve made to date.”

She described the High Protein Stuffed Crust Pizza as an “absolute game changer”.

“The indulgence for the minimal effort and quick result is amazing,” she said.

The pizza comes to about 555 calories. In comparison, a medium-sized Domino’s Pepperoni Passion pizza with a stuffed crust comes to 2,175, reports Birmingham Live.

The dish requires just six ingredients; low-fat greek yoghurt, flour, cheese strings, light mozzarella, tomato puree with herbs, and pepperonis. Not only is it low in calories, but the pizza is also protein-rich, with 34g of protein in total.

To make the dough, Sorcha mixes 90g of low-fat yoghurt with 80g of flour. She then uses a rolling pin to shape it into a pizza, leaving extra room to fold over the crust once you've stuffed it.

Next, Sorcha cuts two cheese strings into equal-sized pieces that she puts around the edges and folds the dough over for the stuffed effect. She then tops the base with tomato puree, mozzarella and three pepperonis.

To cook the pizza she places it in the air fryer for eight to ten minutes at 190C. Sorcha has lost over four stone (30kg) by sticking to a calorie deficit.

Whilst studying at the University of Limerick, Sorcha began experimenting with different low-calorie recipes that satisfied her cravings. She said: "It’s terrifying to think that so many people are still restricting food groups in order to lose weight."
