Met Eireann’s week of weather warnings has come to an end - for now - with calmer conditions gracing counties nationwide over the coming days.
Although the next few days look set to bring some pleasant weather, the usual Irish swing in conditions will roll back around next week, with ‘uncertainty’ over the forecast.
One thing has been confirmed from Monday however by the Irish meteorologists, and that a continued pattern of unsettled conditions heading our way once again.

As for today, it’s due to be cloudy in Connacht and Ulster with occasional showers throughout the day. Some may be heavy or thundery with a possibility of spot flooding.
Elsewhere, conditions will stay largely dry and bright, although a few patchy outbreaks of rain will push into southern coastal counties later this evening with highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.
Things will remain dry tonight in many areas with just patchy outbreaks of rain or showers. Minimum temperatures of -1 to +4 degrees, and will be coldest in the north midlands.
It will remain largely dry on Thursday with some decent bright spells and just a few isolated showers, most likely towards the west.
Highest temperatures tomorrow will range from 5 to 10 degrees, remaining coolest in the north midlands.
Friday will be quite wet with heavy outbreaks of rain that will continue to track northwards across the country with a mix of bright spells and scattered showers following from the south.
Highest temperatures will range from 5 to 11 degrees and will be the coolest in Ulster.
On Saturday, Christmas Eve, it will be largely cloudy with scattered showers. These showers will remain heaviest along Atlantic coastal counties with the best of the dry intervals towards the east.
Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees. Moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, becoming lighter later in the day.
Then on Sunday, Christmas Day, current indications are that it will be clear and bright for most areas with just a few showers in the north and northwest.
Some of the showers may turn to sleet over higher ground with highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees expected early on, but it will become cooler through the day.
Heading into Monday then, a likely change is coming as the forecaster predicts: “considerable uncertainty remains for the further outlook.
“Early indications are that conditions will remain unsettled into the early days of next week.”
