Ireland weather: Met Eireann's cracking update as Wednesday to start wonderful few days

Wednesday will begin a cracking few days of weather in Ireland as temperatures once again touch the low 20Cs.

Traditionally, Leaving Cert weather is the dominant force when it comes to schools, but we could be seeing the start of 'Back to School' weather, as sunny skies will appear all across the country as we head into the weekend.

And charts are currently showing an extremely low chance of any prolonged spells of rain until after Electric Picnic.

It all starts on Wednesday, with any early rain showers soon clearing away from the north-east, leading to a bright day with some long spells of sunshine, particularly in the east.

While there will be some scattered showers throughout the day, they will not be heavy - and temperatures will hit a maximum of between 17 and 20C. These will drop to between 7 and 12C overnight with a mostly clear sky.

Thursday is very similar, with Met Éireann predicting a "mostly dry and fine start".

The prediction does warn: "Cloud will build from the west during the course of the day with outbreaks of rain developing across the western half of the country. It will remain mainly dry further east, but a few showers will move in around evening time. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20C"

It's much of the same on Friday, as many will wake up to some rain showers, but they will quickly fade away.

Once again, we'll see long patches of dry, sunny weather, though the odd scattered shower will materialise as the evening rolls in to Friday night, where "outbreaks of rain and drizzle are expected to push in across parts of west Munster and Connacht. Elsewhere, it looks set to be mostly dry with some clear spells."

Saturday and Sunday are both set to see highs of 22C - so break out the barbecues to send the kids back to school happy!
