Hurricane Martin is hurtling towards Ireland, with its remnants set to impact our weather over the coming days.
Met Eireann has issued an unusual 7-day weather advisory impacting the entire country.
It’s already in place and lasts until next Friday, November 11 at 11pm.

The alert, issued by the national forecaster today, reads: “Further rainfall this weekend and next week will cause localised flooding due to waterlogged soils and high river levels.”
Tropical Storm Martin formed in the central North Atlantic on Tuesday, becoming the 13th named storm of the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season. On Wednesday, it became the seventh hurricane of the season and transitioned into a powerful post-tropical cyclone on Thursday afternoon.
Changing conditions over the Atlantic make its path unpredictable, but its remnants are currently forecast to approach Ireland on Saturday.
Weather expert Alan O'Reilly posted further details on his Carlow Weather Twitter account, explaining that it’s unlikely to have a major impact.
He said: "Hurricane Martin in the Atlantic is forecast to head Northeast towards Greenland and weaken but then turn East with the remnants possible passing close to the North of Ireland on Sunday. No serious impacts expected but sadly more rain!"

It comes as a wet and windy weekend is expected.
Giving its latest forecast, Met Eireann said: “A wet and breezy start for the eastern half of the country on Saturday, drier and brighter in the west. The rain will clear into the Irish Sea before midday and good sunny spells will follow. Scattered showers however will follow from the west.
“Towards the evening, the showers will become heavier in Atlantic counties with the chance of isolated thunderstorms. Highest temperatures of 11C to 14C. Breezy at times with moderate to fresh and gusty southwesterly winds.
“Sunny spells with scattered heavy showers on Sunday, merging to longer spells of rain at times, especially in the west and northwest. Some of the showers will be thundery with spot flooding possible. Cloud will build from the southwest towards the evening with outbreaks of rain following. Highest temperatures of 11C to 14C in fresh and gusty south to southwest winds.”
With the nationwide weather advisory for rain in place until Friday of next week, the national forecaster warned to expect widespread outbreaks of rain with the chance of embedded thunderstorms on Monday.
The rest of next week is set to continuing unsettled with further spells of rain and showers, breezy at times too but turning a bit milder from midweek.
