Ireland joins England and Wales in withdrawing support for Infantino’s re-election

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) has officially withdrawn its endorsement for Gianni Infantino's Fifa re-election bid in March 2027.
The decision follows actions by Uefa, England, and Wales after Infantino attempted to sell off shares in the World Cup to private investors.
In a statement, the FAI cited significant concerns regarding governance, transparency, and a lack of meaningful consultation.
Northern Ireland's IFA has expressed serious concerns over Infantino's leadership but is yet to formally withdraw its backing.
Despite widespread European backlash, Infantino retains support from key allies including the African Football Confederation, Argentina, Mexico, and six Arab nations.
