An Garda Siochana is recruiting control room operatives and the salary is pretty decent.
The emergency service is offering wages of €509.76 to €828.85 per week for a number of roles across Cork, Dublin, Galway, and Waterford. Control room operatives are usually the first point of contact by a victim of crime and are required to gather as much information from the caller as is needed, as quickly as possible and ensure that accurate information gets to the dispatcher screens in a timely manner.
An Garda Siochana is looking for candidates with a strong focus on customer service, excellent communication skills (including a clear speaking voice), good interpersonal communication skills as well as good telephone manners, and more.

Applicants need to have the following requirements to be eligible for the job:
- They must be at least 17 years before December 1, 2021
- They must have requisite knowledge and skills (including the ability to communicate effectively) and have the competencies to carry out the role
- They must fulfil citizenship, health and character requirements
Successful applicants will have to under a hearing test prior to commencing duty. The deadline for applications is Thursday, December 1, 2022.
