Ireland could be faced with a major increase in wasp swarms at the end of the summer season due to the inconsistent weather that has been seen.
Hotter temperatures and a lack of rain in some areas have allowed most types of insects to thrive, and some exterminators are already seeing an increase in callouts as a result.
However, this year, the areas that have been faced with heavy rain storms over recent weeks and months will see fewer swarms as the washout weather will have ruined their hard work - limiting the insect's chance of surviving into the warmer months ahead.
