President Donald Trump has met with his national security team to discuss a proposal from Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the Middle East conflict.

The White House confirmed that no decision had yet been made, but multiple US media reports suggested Trump was unhappy with the proposal to decouple of the conflict from Iran's nuclear programme and leave that issue to be discussed at a later date.
