Iran has warned that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the United States meets seven conditions demanded by Tehran, escalating its showdown with President Donald Trump over one of the world's most critical energy routes.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also warned that Tehran could confront its adversaries with 'new surprises' as diplomatic efforts to end the months-long crisis continue.
