Iran hits two UAE tankers in Strait of Hormuz after a night of Trump strikes

  • Two UAE oil tankers were struck by Iranian cruise missiles in the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in one Indian crew member killed and eight wounded.
  • The UAE condemned the incident as a “blatant attack” - which followed a five-hour barrage of US strikes on Iranian military bases.
  • Iran's Revolutionary Guard claimed the tankers were “offending supertankers” that ignored warnings and attempted to pass through a “mined route”.
  • Tehran also launched missiles at Jordan and Bahrain, claiming to have hit weapons storage depots and a facility housing US forces.
  • The US Central Command confirmed its forces used precision munitions against Iranian coastal defence systems, amidst Trump's controversial plan for a 20 per cent toll on vessels in the strait.
