MUMBAI: The Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Impact Player rule, which the organisers have extended for three more years, will be debated vigorously again as another season dawns upon us.
The rule, not a part of any other league globally, or international cricket either, permits teams to substitute a player from their playing XI during the match, enabling the introduction of a specialist batter or bowler, depending on the team’s choice.
