A 35-year-old man in Iowa has become the second person to be arrested and accused of using a drug-laced lasagna to try to force a woman to miscarry.
Matthew Uthoff and 36-year-old Amber Snow, both of Decorah, allegedly provided a family with drugged lasagna on December 28, 2025. According to the sheriff's office, the couple wanted to force a pregnant woman in the family to have a miscarriage.
In court documents, Uthoff and Snow are accused of developing the plot together. Uthoff is Snow's husband, reports CBS 2 Iowa.
The family wasn't a random target, according to authorities. Snow shares custody of her child with a member of the victim's family. The exact nature of Snow's connection to that individual has not been made public.
Investigators say that Snow's child was present when the drugged lasagna was made and eaten.
A later analysis by the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations' Crime Lab found that the dish had been laced with oxycodone.
Police records indicate that the woman targeted in the poisoning was not hurt and that her fetus survived.
Investigators allegedly found evidence of the plot by reviewing text messages between Uthoff and Snow and their internet search histories.

Uthoff and Snow are both facing multiple charges related to the incident, including a class D felony for trying to terminate a human pregnancy without the consent of the person, child endangerment, and administering a harmful substance to an adult and a juvenile.
After his arrest, Uthoff was booked into the Winneshiek County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
Snow's arraignment is scheduled for April 7.
