Ioan Gruffudd has filed a restraining order against Alice Evans, in which he has claimed that his estranged wife has issued him with a number of threats - including that she would "do to him what Amber Heard did to Johnny Depp".
In the court documents, seen by the Mirror, Alice has rejected all of Ioan's claims and accused Ioan of filing the request as "a ploy to gain some sort of advantage" over her in the upcoming divorce proceedings.
The Mirror has reached out to both Ioan and Alice's reps for comment.
In the documents, signed on Tuesday, Ioan says that he told Alice that he was unhappy in their relationship in August 2020, prompting them to discuss the possibility of separating.
He claims: "Alice repeatedly told me between August 2020 and our separation on January 1, 2021 that if I left her, she would make false public accusations about me, sell false stories about me to the press, destroy me and my career (Alice and I are actors, and at times over the years stories about us have been published.
"Alice told me verbally multiple times that she would do to me what Amber Heard did to Johnny Depp. Alice threatened to tell people I abused her and out daughters; she threatened to call the police on me if I did not comply with her demands; she threatened to tell people I am a drug addict and put me in prison; she threatened to write a fake diary that reflected an abused victim, and to have that diary published; and she threatened to destroy my mother.
"Alice told me she would win, and everyone would believe her over me."
He has requested that Alice, 53, is to stay 100 yards away from himself and his new girlfriend Bianca Wallace, and that she should not be able to contact them.
In response, Alice has denied all of his claims and has said that she does not agree to a no-contact order or a stay-away order.
She says in the court documents: "I believe that Petitioner is filing this request merely as a ploy to gain some sort of advantage over me in our court proceedings. As Petitioner has not seen our children for over 8 months, I believe he is trying to set some sort of record that I am a horrible mother.
"As such, I ask the Court to deny Petitioner's requests. Ever since I received Petitioner's Ex Parte notice informing me that he will attempt to seek a domestic violence restraining order against me, I have been besides myself terrified that he will stop at nothing to hurt me emotionally and financially, and more alarming, try to take our children away from me.
"I have cried on and off all day terrified over what his lies have done to our family, and what they continue to do. I suspect Petitioner will not be truthful in his declaration and make things up to make me sound like an abuser, as this appears to be his strategy from day one."
Ioan filed for divorce from Alice last year following the fallout of their dramatic split.
The Hollywood couple met during the filming of 102 Dalmatians and were married for 13 years after they tied the knot in 2007.
