NEW DELHI: PT Usha, the IOA President, strongly criticised the ad-hoc panel responsible for managing the suspended WFI on Wednesday. She pointed out that the committee failed to exercise due diligence and omitted the names of wrestler Antim Panghal's coaches from the extensive list submitted to the Paris Olympic Games organisers.
The IOA's response was triggered by the delay in visa clearance for Panghal's preferred coaches for the Games. Panghal, a 19-year-old athlete who trains in Hisar, made history by becoming the first Indian wrestler to secure a spot in the Paris Games after winning a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championship.
