Organisers of the Monkton Jubilee Gala Day have announced a list of events that will take place in the run-up to the showpiece event on Saturday, June 11.
On Monday, June 6, the Best Decorated House in the village competition will be judged by the Monkton Primary School pupils.
And the following day, on Tuesday, June 7, Monkton Primary sports day will take place, followed at 3.30pm by parents and child sports activities on the playing fields, drinks and snacks will be provided.
Then on Wednesday, June 8, the Monkton International Welly Throwing Competition will take place in the playing field.
This event is expected to start at 6.30pm and is sponsored by Semex.
There are a variety of prizes up for grabs too.
Thursday, June 9 sees an orienteering treasure hunt starting from the cross at 6.30pm with prizes. Everyone is welcome to attend and take part.
And on Saturday, June 11, it’s the main event The Monkton Jubilee Gala Day.
The Gala Parade starts at 12.30pm from the top of Main Street and there will be a brass band, funny characters, as well as the traditional appearances of the Gala Queen and King.
Fancy dress is optional, but there are prizes for the best ones on the day.
The Parade ends up in the playing fields for an afternoon of family fun.
In addition, the Best Dressed Pet competition takes place, the Tug of War, Beat The Goalie, Horseshoe Throwing and much more.
Spirit Aerosystems will be running experiment workshops in the school.
There’s also a refreshment village with beer, burgers and ice cream.
