International Sufi Caravan chief Mufti Manzur Ziyaee first cleric in Maharashtra to receive Tricolour as part of 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign

MUMBAI: International Sufi Caravan chief Mufti Manzur Ziyaee is the first cleric in Maharashtra who has received a tricolour from senior BJP leader and deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis as part of the Centre’s Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.

In this campaign people have been asked to hoist the national flag from August 13 to 15 as India celebrates Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, the 75th anniversary of India’s freedom.

Calling it a precious gift, Mufti Ziyaee said he backed the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. “This is a privilege that the deputy CM gave me a flag. I must say this is a historic campaign and every Indian should support it. Our Tiranga is our national pride and by hoisting it all together we will be expressing our patriotic feelings,” said Mufti Ziyaee.

The cleric also added that soon he will start visiting famous dargahs, madrassas and mosques in the state and distribute the national flag free among the community leaders and fellow clerics. “I will tour the state and visit dargahs, madrassas and mosques and meet religious leaders and tell them to hoist the flag on August 13, 14 and 15 very prominently on their homes, mosques, madrassas, dargahs. It is not that these institutions have not hoisted the national flag earlier. They have always done it but they must also join this national campaign for which PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have given a clarion call,” said Mufti Ziyaee.

Earlier, he had supported several peace moves and denounced terrorism. The head of International Sufi Caravan has underscored the need to take the message of peace and love taught by Sufi saints to the masses. He maintains that confrontations and conflicts will not lead to any solution and peace and harmony will bring prosperity in society. Now he has joined the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
