Instant analysis of Ravens’ 24-9 win over Jets in Week 1

The Baltimore Ravens got off to a strong start during the 2022 NFL season, picking up a dominant 24-9 win over the New York Jets in Week 1. It was a game that started off sloppy for both sides, but Baltimore overcame their slow start to put together an incredible second half performance.

Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson finished the contest completing 17-of-30 passes for 213 yards with three touchdowns and one interception, adding six carries for 17 yards on the ground. The Ravens’ ground game wasn’t strong for the majority of the game, as the team was only able to muster 3.0 per carry on the ground total.

Jackson’s three touchdown passes went to wide receivers Rashod Bateman and Devin Duvernay, with Bateman catching a 55-yard bomb while Duvernay caught two scores of his own. Tight end Mark Andrews led the offense in catches with five, putting up 52 yards.

Baltimore’s defense was lights out for the majority of the contest, surrendering their first touchdown of the game right as the game was about to end. They held the Jets to 4.8 yards per play, and only allowed New York to convert on 2-of-14 third down opportunities. Safety Marcus Williams had an interception and led the team in tackles with 12 in his first game as a Raven, while defensive linemen Michael Pierce and Justin Madubuike, inside linebacker Patrick Queen and others impressed.

Baltimore didn’t have much go right for them in the first half, but came out and performed much better in the second part of the game, securing their fourth Week 1 win in five years. They’ll make their way back home to face off against the Miami Dolphins in Week 2.
