Quick hits
– The Packers are now 3-3 and heading into a three-game road trip, starting Sunday against the Washington Commanders. This season is starting to feel like the start of 2016, when Mike McCarthy’s rudderless team started 4-6.
– The Packers had 13 possessions. Aaron Jones had 12 touches.
– The Jets had nine quarterback hits, four sacks and five pass breakups. This was a highly disruptive defense that dominated the line of scrimmage.
– How is Royce Newman still a starter for this offensive line?
– The Packers defense started 7-for-7 on third down and was dominating the Jets for the better part of 2.5 quarters. Then Zach Wilson hit Corey Davis on a big play in the third quarter, and the floodgates opened. New York finished with 179 rushing yards.
– The special teams got a blocked punt, but the Packers also had a field goal blocked (three points) and a punt blocked for a touchdown (seven points). Rich Bisaccia’s group was responsible for a 10-point swing the wrong way.
– The Packers averaged 4.0 yards per play; 4.4 per pass and 3.0 per run.
– Once again, the Packers didn’t have a takeaway (third time in six games) and didn’t win the turnover battle (sixth time).
– Aaron Rodgers was inaccurate for much of the contest.
– Six targets for A.J. Dillon resulted for 11 receiving yards. Rodgers and Dillon also fumbled away a possession.
– The Jets passed for 99 total yards and still won a game on the road by 17 points.
– The two teams were 5-for-27 on third down and 0-for-3 scoring touchdowns in the red zone.
– The Packers need to right the ship in a big hurry or this season could get off the tracks. The upcoming schedule looks brutal.
What’s next
The Packers begin a three-game road trip with a showdown against the Washington Commanders next Sunday. Washington will have extra rest after beating the Bears on Thursday night this week.
