Social media app Instagram suffered outages this evening with hundreds of users reporting problems. Website Downdetector said over 1,500 people experienced an issue.
At around 5.40pm, the site received 1,510 complaints about outages. The issue appears to have lasted well over an hour with 948 people reporting an issue at 6.40pm tonight (May 26).
Some users reportedly said the site would load, but would only show a small number of older posts. Robert Paul Art said: "Instagram refreshing but only showing a small number of posts and all are 'old' posts."
While Audrey reported: "Can't see other posts by scroll up only 4 posts are showing. Come on Instagram."
Such was the extent of the issues, #instagramdown started trending on Twitter. Users of the micro-blogging site however saw the funny side of the issues.
@LaydeKeys said: "One thing about Twitter…it’s going to know when Instagram and FB goes down." @DevineGreekwear added: "I know whenever my IG is trippin'. I can always come to Twitter and get answers."
There is currently no indication when the image sharing website will be back to normal capacity.
