After processing just one voluntary redundancy in the first quarter of 2026, the Department of Home Affairs opened the floodgates, processing 679 payouts following a massive exit rush led by Immigration and Border Force staff.

Newly released figures show that more than 1450 public servants across immigration and border enforcement put their hands up to leave.
