Inside stunning €3.3 million home of former RTE boss as it goes up for sale

The home of a former RTE Boss has been put on the market with a whopping asking price of €3.3 million.

George Waters, who was RTE director general between 1978 and 1985, lived in the Foxrock home with his wife Mary until he passed away aged 90 last November. His wife Mary is now looking to downsize, the Irish Times reports .

The couple had the house built in 2003 after they returned from a period living in Switzerland. They named the house Châteauneuf in honour of their time living in the central European country.

The luxury 5,060 square-foot home boasts four bedrooms and five bathrooms as well as stunning kitchen and living areas and a cinema room. One of the bathrooms also features a jacuzzi bath.

The property is tucked away in quiet cul-de-sac off Torquay Road, near Foxrock village. The large entrance hallway features impressively high ceilings, which reach up to nearly six metres at their highest, and is flooded in natural light from a glass block wall.

The kitchen/breakfast/family room is an open plan living space with granite floor, granite worktops and French doors leading onto the garden. The cinema room can be found behind a sliding door from the family room and kitted out with a 4K projector, comfy armchairs and a red velvet curtain around the screen.

Moving upstairs, the master bedroom is a spacious double room with bay windows, and ensuite with a walk-in shower and jacuzzi bath. The room also features a large walk-in wardrobe and has it's own master living area attached with a kitchenette and sink. The three other large double bedrooms also each have their own ensuites.

Outside, the property boasts a beautifully landscaped walled garden sitting on approximately one third of an acre. The garden includes an abstract Michael Warren sculpture and a patio area out the back with decking, perfect for Al fresco dining. Full details of the property can be found on MyHome.ie.
