Inside plans for Shane Warne's unfinished £2.8m mansion including bowling alley and jet ski garage

Shane Warne had plans to fully furnish a lavish new mansion worth up to AUD$5million (£2.78m) before his shock death aged just 52.

According to the Herald Sun, the cricket legend bought a plot of land, approximately 2,000 square-metres in size, in October 2020.

The plot is located in the affluent seaside town of Portsea in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula in Australia.

In plans submitted to the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council on Warne’s behalf in August 2021, Warne hoped to create his very own sanctuary resembling that of a resort.

The sporting legend wanted his new residence to feature a gym, theatre, games room, library and a bowling alley.

Warne also wanted a jet ski garage, three-car garage, wine cellar and observation deck with breathtaking views of the beautiful suburbs of Victoria.

The house was set to be complete with three bedrooms with an en-suite included in the master room as well as a walk-in wardrobe.

A fancy swimming pool was also set to be the centrepiece for a four-bedroom guest wing, coupled with a music room, alfresco bar and separate alfresco barbeque area.

Warne invested in several luxurious properties during his lifetime such as Melville in the Melbourne suburb of Brighton.

Along with his ex-wife Simone Callahan, he purchased Melville for AUD$3.6m, before renovating the home and selling it for AUD$8.8m in 2007, the year he retired from international cricket.

Nearly a decade later Warne purchased the home once again, for an increased fee of AUD$14.2m, he made another healthy profit after selling the home for a rumoured AUD$20m.

Callahan, who had three children with the 1999 World Cup winner, posted a tribute to the late cricket star following his death.

She wrote: "Shane’s greatest Love, Our children Brooke, Jackson & Summer.

"Shane was taken too soon from their young lives. Eternal love remains & will never leave. Vale Shane."
