The chief executive of Gatwick airport has revealed more about the unprecedented evacuation of the South Terminal on Friday 22 November – an event that wrecked the travel plans of thousands of airline passengers.

The cause: a security scare involving a package in passengers’ cabin baggage discovered at the search area.
