An abandoned house once owned by Pink Floyd member David Gilmour holds a tragic secret in its basement.
Pictures taken by urban explorer Jeff Johns, 23, have captured the beauty of the once famous property in all its decaying beauty.
Hook End Manor is a 16th century Elizabethan House that was built in the 1580 for the Bishop of Reading.
After several extensions that lasted more than 50 years from 1920s to 1972, a studio was constructed into the property which was bought by David Gilmour in 1980.
Several of the top charts by David Gilmour include Fat Old Sun, A Pillow of Winds, Breathe, Money, Goodbye Blue Sky and Wish You Were Here.
The 11-bedroom property has 25 acres of land but was home to Gilmour for just seven years, as David and his wife left the house in 1987.
In 2020, someone found a headstone for a seven-year-old boy Jack who died in 1909 in the basement of the house.
The explorer believes this could be why Gilmour and his wife left the property when they did.
Items which were photographed include a beautiful staircase, vintage dressing tables and piano chairs.
“It was amazing to realise that many famous people had spent so many hours there and how much the house was worth just left there!," said Jeff.
"This place has been empty for a very long while now, even after being sold on to many people.
“You could tell nobody had lived there for a very long time.
“I almost felt as if I was being watched.
"It was only in 1987 that David Gilmour moved out of this place and there are still rumours that they moved out because his wife was so scared of paranormal activity in the house.
"There was also a gravestone discovered in the basement for a little boy called little Jack. Maybe that's why they moved out.
“There were many things that were left behind including beds and piano chairs.
“I love such shots knowing that there are a lot of memories that were created there and that it was someone’s loved home.
“The adrenaline rush of getting in these amazing places is wonderful.”
Additionally, in August, Gilmour announced he was selling his stunning seaside mansion in Hove, East Sussex, for a whopping £15million.
The mansion boasts automatically ventilated gym, sauna, air-conditioned humidified wine store, walled courtyard garden, sunken garden and orangery.
Other luxuries include underfloor heating, remote monitored integral CCTV system, remote-controlled door entry system with biometric fingerprint access.
There is also a recording studio inside which is fully air‐conditioned and comprises of the studio, control room, lounge and kitchen.
The couple's home also comes with a three-bed cottage, which they have used as a guest house.
The Pink Floyd musician has left that property in the hands of estate agent, Pereds.
The couple previously said of their Hove property: "Medina House's sheltered Winter Garden has become a wonderfully relaxing spot to hang out. We’ve had so many memorable parties here.
"The inside and outside become one big entertaining space.
“When you wake up in the morning, the view is always a surprise: the sea and sky are never the same.
"Sometimes we hop across the beach with our fishing rods, bring back the catch to meet a few herbs from the garden, and then cook on the fire in the Winter Garden. Five minutes from sea to mouth!”
