Typhoon Champi has killed one person and injured more than 500 as it swept past Taiwan on Saturday, downing trees, cutting power to hundreds of thousands of homes and forcing hundreds of flights to be cancelled.
At one point, a super typhoon and one of the strongest storms in the Pacific this year, Champi glanced off Taiwan's northeastern coast in Yilan County early on Saturday and is weakening as it heads north towards the Chinese coast.
