The inquests into the deaths of two teenagers who died in a crash at a petrol station in Swansea have been opened. Kaitlyn Davies and Ben Rogers, both 19, died when the car they were travelling in crashed into Northway Petrol station in Bishopston, Swansea, late in the evening of Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
Two other people travelling in the car, a 17-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy, were rushed to hospital for emergency care. As of June 16, 2022, the pair remain in hospital receiving medical care. It's understood the 17-year-old girl is still in a critical condition and the 17-year-old boy remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Swansea Coroners' Court opened the inquests into the deaths of Mr Rogers and Miss Davies. At the hearing, held at The Guildhall in Swansea on Friday, June 10, 2022, the court heard the brief circumstances of the collision in which the pair died and the date was set for when the final inquest will take place. Alongside HM Coroner for Swansea and Neath Port Talbot, Colin Phillips, police investigating officer PC Alun Efstathiou from South Wales Police serious collision investigation unit was also in attendance at the inquest opening.
