Injured Aussie star Nick Kyrgios to miss French Open

NEW DELHI: Nick Kyrgios, the unpredictable tennis star from Australia, will not be participating in the upcoming French Open due to a knee injury, the French Tennis Federation (FFT) announced on Tuesday.

Despite playing at Roland-Garros five times, Kyrgios has only managed to make it to the third round twice and has never been comfortable on the clay court.

Ranked 26th in the world and a finalist at Wimbledon in 2022, Kyrgios last competed in the French Open in 2017, where he was eliminated in the second round.

This year, he has faced a tumultuous time, including knee surgery in January to repair a torn left meniscus, which led to his withdrawal from the Australian Open and a guilty plea in February for assaulting an ex-girlfriend.

However, the 28-year-old was fortunate to avoid conviction for the "single act of stupidity," as termed by the magistrate.
