An influencer could face prison after allegedly smuggling £150,000 of cannabis through Edinburgh Airport.
Ellie Crampsie, 23, is said to have had 17 kilos of the Class B drug stored in her luggage as she returned home from a holiday in Thailand last year.
Crampsie was detained at the airport and has since pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis, making an appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday, March 26, The Sun reports.
Prosecutor Emma Lain told the court Crampsie had flown home from Thailand on an Air France flight via Paris, before being stopped by Border Force on April 16, 2025.
Ms Laing said: “She was asked the usual questions by the officer and she confirmed she had travelled from Thailand.
“Her luggage was opened and a number of vacuum packages were within.”
The court heard airport officials uncovered 17 separate sealed packages containing a total amount of 17.7kg worth of cannabis, estimated to have a street value of £115,000 to £151,000.
Defence solicitor Mr Hodge told the court his client was single and had "the benefit of the support of her parents who have attended court today".
Crampsie resides in Broomhouse, Glasgow, and is a popular socialite and influencer on Glasgow's nightlife scene, where she has promoted several brands.
She also runs a beauty business named Brows by Ellie, which offers brow styling and treatments.
Her defence lawyer asked for bail conditions to continue while a social work report is prepared. He described her previous criminal record as “unremarkable in the context of this offence”.
Crampsie pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug, namely cannabis, to another or others at Edinburgh Airport, on April 16 last year.
Sheriff Graeme Watson told the court that he would adjourn sentencing to allow a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty assessment to be prepared.
The judge added that he would continue bail conditions in the interim.
He said: “That should be no pre-judgment of what comes next, all sentencing options will be open to me on the next occasion, do you understand that?”
