Infantino slammed in open letter signed by three confederations as football’s civil war takes fresh turn

  • Uefa , Concacaf, and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have accused Fifa president Gianni Infantino of “deception” and called for his resignation.
  • The three governing bodies, representing over half of Fifa's members, have held preliminary talks about creating their own competitions if they decide to boycott Fifa events.
  • In an open letter, confederation leaders demanded an independent review into Infantino's attempt to sell a stake in the World Cup to private investors.
  • The signatories criticised Infantino for a profound “failure of judgment” and accused him of attempting to limit scrutiny by avoiding proper consultation.
  • Fifa claimed over the weekend that there is a concerted effort to undermine the organisation and its president , who still enjoys support from the African Football Confederation.
