In a heartbreaking incident, the lifeless body of a male infant was found in a baby box for abandoned babies at the church of San Giovanni Battista in Bari, Italy. The baby, believed to be around a month old, was discovered by a local funeral home director who noticed the box door ajar.
The parish priest, Father Antonio Ruccia, revealed that an alarm system meant to alert him when a baby is placed in the crib failed to trigger on this occasion. The priest, who was in Rome at the time, expressed his shock at not receiving the expected notification on his cell phone.
