Bengaluru: A 30-year-old passenger traveling from Delhi to Bengaluru on an Indigo flight has been arrested after he allegedly tried to open the emergency door of the aircraft mid-air.
A police official told Dynamite News correspondent that Prateek, son of Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Patrakarpuram, Kanpur, was travelling in Indigo flight number 6E-308 on Friday. He was sitting on seat 18-F and was in an inebriated condition.
"Prateek, who was under the influence of alcohol, tried to disturb other passengers in the aircraft and tried to open the emergency exit door," he said.
A case has been registered against Prateek under sections 290 and 336 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 11(a) of the Aviation Act on the complaint of Tejashwi Shah, a crew member.
Indigo Airlines also said in a statement that a passenger traveling on flight 6E 308 from Delhi to Bengaluru, in an inebriated state, tried to open the emergency exit door.
IndiGo said, “On discovering this violation, the crew member present in the aircraft alerted the captain and the passenger was suitably cautioned. The safe operation of the said flight was not compromised and on arrival in Bengaluru, the misbehaving passenger was handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)."
