An SEC matchup between Georgia and Mississippi State took place on Saturday, and the Indianapolis Colts were one of a few teams with at least one scout in attendance.
According to Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report, the Colts, along with Giants, 49ers, Dolphins, and Chargers all had a representative on hand for this game.
For both the Colts and the rest of the NFL, having members of the personnel department at college games is a weekly occurrence. In fact, Fowler added that in addition to the Georgia vs. Mississippi State game, the Colts also had representatives at Ohio State vs. Oregon and FIU vs. Liberty.
With help from Pro Football Focus’ early 2025 big board, here are some of the top draft-eligible prospects playing in this game that may have had the attention of the Colts’ scouting department–all of which, based on PFF”s rankings, play for Georgia.
S Malaki Starks (Georgia)
ED Mykel Williams (Georgia)
LB Jalon Walker (Georgia)
G Tate Ratledge (Georgia)
TE Oscar Delp (Georgia)
RB Trevor Etienne (Georgia)
G Dylan Fairchild (Georgia)
TE Benjamin Yurosek (Georgia)
OT Earnest Greene III (Georgia)
It goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway, any time we are talking about the draft this far out, the caveat is that a lot is going to change. Whether that be players moving up or down draft boards as well as the positional needs that the Colts have, depending on how the rest of the season unfolds and what happens in free agency.
However, now that I have that out of the way, some current positions of need for the Colts include cornerback, safety, tight end, running back, and defensive tackle depth.
