Indianapolis Colts’ scout(s) in attendance at Syracuse vs. Pittsburgh

There were 14 NFL teams on hand for the Syracuse vs. Pittsburgh matchup, including the Indianapolis Colts.

According to Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report, the Colts, along with Pittsburgh, Detroit, Carolina, Buffalo, Arizona, and others, had at least one member of their personnel department at this game.

NFL teams sending their scouts to college football games throughout the season is a weekly occurrence, and this won’t be the only game this week that the Colts have representatives at.

With help from Mel Kiper’s early 2025 big board, the top two prospects in this game are both tight ends in Syracuse’s Oronde Gadsden and Pittsburgh’s Gavin Bartholomew.

I’m sure there were other players on the Colts’ radar, but on Kiper’s big board, which featured his current top 10 from each position group, Gadsden and Bartholomew were the only two players from either Syracuse or Pitt on this list.

Tight end is very much a big need for the Colts next offseason. Beyond the Colts already not seeing a huge impact from this position group in the passing game this season, both Mo Alie-Cox and Kylen Granson will be free agents.

In addition to that, Drew Ogletree will be in the final year of his rookie deal and Jelani Woods status remains up in the air. Will Mallory will still be under contract for two more years at that point, but he’s played a very small role up to now.

In terms of both depth and in need of more playmaking, tight end will be a big priority for the Colts in 2025.
