Indiana mom says her daughter tapped ‘no’ when her iPad called a FaceTime with her crying 6-year-old cousin too ’emotional.’ It hung up anyway

A few weeks ago, an Indiana parent witnessed an Apple child safety feature engage in a way that upset her more than comforted her, enough that she chose to opt out of it. Sarah Blankenbaker (somewherein_indiana) took to Instagram and TikTok to share that her daughter’s iPad abruptly ended a FaceTime call with her six-year-old cousin. Allegedly, the conversation got too emotional. So far, the video has more than 49.7 million views.

In the caption of her Instagram post, Sarah questioned the tech giant. She wrote, “@apple what is this?! Mind you, her little cousin (6 yo) was crying because he couldn’t come over & play.” She then told her viewers, “INSTRUCTIONS TO DISABLE IN PINNED COMMENT! Opting out IMMEDIATELY!” The overlay text on her video was just as direct: “Hey Apple, Stop It!”
