In 1996, Alicia Silverstone paid $597,000 for a four-bedroom Hollywood Hills home, then added solar and graywater; 30 years later, it is worth over $2 million

Homes with green features are starting to sell for more money across the US. According to the National Association of Realtors' 2025 Residential Sustainability Report, 58% of real estate pros say highlighting energy-efficient home features in a listing can add value. Such is the case with actress Alicia Silverstone's Hollywood Hills home. She bought the four-bedroom house in 1996 for $597,000. Today, after three decades of solar panels, water recycling and eco-friendly upgrades, it’s estimated to be worth well over $2 million.
