Imelda May says boyfriend 'lucky to climb out of car alive and unharmed' following crash in icy conditions

Imelda May has said her boyfriend was "lucky to climb out of [his car] alive and unharmed" following a crash due to ice last night.

The singer, who lives in the UK with her partner Niall McNamee, posted an update to her social media following the close call. It happened on an icy road at nighttime.

Thankfully a passerby was there to bring him home and paramedics from the NHS checked he was okay. Images posted by the Liberties star show the damage to the vehicle.

She said: "My boyfriend @niallmcnamee was lucky to climb out of this alive and unharmed in the cold dark of night last night. Even careful drivers like him are gotten by icy roads. Be careful out there. Huge thank you to passerby Bee who brought him home and total gratitude to the NHS ambulance service who checked him over and gave us peace of mind. How could we live without them?! Literally. Grateful he’s okay."

Many took to the comments to send their best wishes. One said: "Glad he is OK. What a nightmare for you all. Best wishes."

While another said: "Glad he's okay, he's a lucky man on both counts, best wishes as the shock of an accident like that can be severe also." And a third added: "So frightening. Glad Niall is ok. Poor thing must have gotten an awful shock. Home safe thankfully. It's very scary so hope you're ok too Hun."
